We are in Nordkapp Avant 705, one of Nordkapp's most sporty boats. Join me and Anders Jacobsen for a tour of the boat. We will go through many details, and the different zones of the A705. A tour of the Nordkapp Avant 705 The bow is an area for disembarkation, but also much more. The Avant 705 has some good pullpits. You use the boat on a daily basis- what do you think the bow area provides? The need is to be able to get safely on and off the boat. During heavy wind and weather, you should have easy access to ropes. The bow has a storage space for rope, and is wide, with high railings. It's convenient, especially with kids. Easy to get on and off the boat. High freeboard, so you don't fall out, and you have something to hold on to. You can safely go fast, with the kids in the front. You can have ropes on either side here, this entrance area works great. Dirty kids, dogs and such, can step in here. Very easy for everyone, for all shapes and sizes. Easy and straightforward to button down the pillows, and these pillows will be fine, whether you are driving in 10 knots or 50. The front is a good seating area, there is room for plenty people. The boat can handle the weight of people in the front, even at higher speeds. But there's a sunbed here? –Yes, here you can put an insert pillow, and then you have a good social zone in front. If you go out into the fjord and drop anchor, you can enjoy yourself here. There's a cup holder here. A good place to be, and a nice starting point for a bath. Nice social zone in front here, plenty of space, and plenty of storage. Where you can have the insert pillow, fishing rods, swimwear, nets, etc. How do you open that storage space behind you? You open the large hatch here, the gas dampers will leave it standing. This storage is under these two seats, and in towards this third one. Very spacious, there is also a small one here, and the one in front of the ropes. The whole boat is pretty well utilized in terms of getting things away. You have room for 10 in the boat here, maybe more, stowing things out of the way is necessary. Behind you is storage for the fenders, where they wont clutter up the deck. Being able to attach them here is nice, where they are out of the way, but accessible. Not all days are this nice, on days with strong wind, having these easily accessible is convenient. Use them while tying up your boat to protect it. There is room for more fenders aswell. And behind you, there is a walkway to the cockpit. Yes, a nice and wide entry. I'm not that big, but there's plenty of space. Same with the doors, they are solid and have good hinges. If you drive slowly, they can be left open, or you can close them for windproofing. You have in a way two zones in the boat, I feel you get the best - from both day cruiser and open console boats. Here we are in the cockpit of Avant 705. This is a feature-rich place Anders, let's briefly go through some things here. Lets take the driver's seat first, a good place to sit, adjustable in length, height and swivel, so you can turn to those behind you. It has this adjustable cushion, very handy for us short people. Also room for standing, a solid wheel, and here is the servo pump, behind the wheel. Everything is where it should be, and easily accessible. Here you have tilt and trim, you have gas and gear. The boat has a bow thruster, very handy when it is windy. If you are in a dense marina, perhaps a little inexperienced- bow thrusters makes it so much safer. You can also get an automatic anchor winch. indicated on the panel here. You have trim tabs, the flaps at the back. Which is nice if there is crosswind, or a lot of weight on one side of the boat. Put it on auto, and the boat will go straight as an arrow. The engine has active trim, with various programs that you can preset. From a smooth and nice ride on program 1, or a more playful boat, on program 5. Alternatively, turn it off and trim it normally. Plotter in 7 ", can be upgraded to 9". A compass, nice if you like maps. If you go fishing, you can just turn around, and drive home the same way. The Engine instruments closely monitors the engine. You have temp, fuel, hours spent, rpm, speed and so on. Plenty storage and cup holders, things that contribute to comfort- and keeps you organized. it helps to get things out of the way. This is a large storage room, space for everything you need on a boat trip. There is the optional toilet, port-a-potty, or electric toilet. plenty of space, here you can have your phone, glasses, keys etc. A solicitous driver position, I enjoy myself here a lot. Fusion stereo sound system, you can play music via bluetooth. With excellent sound quality, driving fast you won't hear much music, but in port, or a calm moment at sea, putting on some tunes feels so good. The emergency stop switch for the bow thruster is worth mentioning. Yes, it must be in the out-position to function. Take a look at it before starting up, and save yourself a moment of panic. Check that it is out, and that these two are on- Then the thruster works, indicated by the light in the panel. A good drivers position, a versatile, practical space, that will fits everone well, big or small. A well designed area, plenty of storage, and the opportunity to be part of the group. The passenger area here on the port side has a large, comfortable seat. We have a small child, who can sit either here beside mom, or on her lap, and still be sheltered by the windscreen, we love that about this boat. If you can slide this seat over, you get a chaise longue. This area can be turned to a lounger, and it's a very nice social space. The lounger can be used for sitting, and the pillow comes provided with the boat. More storage down here, if you tilt it up, and all the way out. The boat has a fridge drawer, if you have cold drinks- maybe some baked goods, bread, cold cuts or similar. It works great, for day trips, or even for spending the night here. Here is the nice, large sofa, the pillows can be flipped up- which opens up a path to the bathing platform. It is very convenient, say you have bathed, here you can dry yourself, you have plenty of space. When dry, you have an easy entry, without having to step on the pillow. Another convenient little detail. Like many other things in the boat, a lot of practical features. Here is more storage, for lanterns, flags, tools or whatever else you want to be easily accessible. Main switch here, with a consumable battery, and a starter battery. There are benefits to that right? -Yes, if you have two batteries in one boat, then you have one for the cooling drawer, stereo, lights and such. Maybe you need to charge a phone, this drains this secondary battery- But never the starter battery, you can always start the engine. That is the advantage of two batteries, I would recommend getting it. The optional secondary is worth it? -Yes, I would say that. We talked a bit about the storage underneath the passenger seat, but there is also one under this seat, where you store the harbor canopy. Yes, it can be used for a lot, but this is Norway, i don't trust the weather. Rains can occur, and if i am about to dock- or i want to get out to sea, it should be quick. The canopy being easily accessible helps. This space can fit a table, do you use it? Yes we do, and for some bread, and shrimp, the table is quite spacious. You can seat four people for a meal, my family is five, and it works for us. We use it quite a lot, it's a nice social zone. This is the canopy garage, the canopy on this boat is very nice. In the shelter behind the windshield, everyone can sit dry. I am short enough to stand straight here. Good canopy! When you want to deploy the canopy, you shouldn't keep it tight, so it's easier to get it hooked up, do you have any tips? Say you buy a new boat, the canopy is new and unused, it's like buying some new jeans, initially pretty tight, but it settles with some use. When you have pulled up this canopy, and hooked it on, it won't be that tight. Now you can tighten it up properly with the rail here. Then you can hook down the straps here, and it gets really tight. and you can drive the boat, without it fluttering and turning. It looks like it belongs on the boat, and driving with it is no issue. It is a very practical canopy. -And then grey weather is no problem. Not all days are sunny days, but being able to use a boat regardless- is very nice. You can also choose open roof, or open side walls. Here we have the noise and windwall, with a waterski-hook installed. It makes it less noisy here, but it also helps in the wind? If you move, you create turbulence, all moving mass does, The wall makes it so much calmer, as it screens for wind and sound. It is practical, looks cool, and the ski hook being centered is great. On the aft deck there's two large platforms, the starboard side has petrol refill, and storage. The fuel cap is attached to the boat, you won't lose it. The boat is easy to refill, plenty of space to stand on while refueling. Plenty of space for some rope, perhaps some water ski rope. On the other side, there is standard bushing for an anchor winch, which is an optional for the boat. In this boat there is a draft. A good spot to throw from, or to monitor the winch. A flag mount here, so you can flag on beautiful summer days. Just press to get it on and off, and there is a lantern on the starboard side. The Avant 705 is available from 175 to 250 horsepower. Here is a Mercury 250 Verado, are you pleased with it? I love having that power under me, and 250 horses fits this boat well. It's a V8, with incredible throttle, that stays impressively quiet. You almost doubt whether you've been able to turn it on. If you idle, or just simmer around, you will not hear the engine, it's nice. I have tried this boat with a V6, 175 horses works really well. The hull have a 24° v-bottom that cuts the water nicely, and the boat runs well with 175HP. I guess it's plenty, but 250HP is more fun. So a good combination of engine and hull? They fit so well together, and on a social boat like this- having an engine that performs well, but runs very quietly, is lovely. That was our tour of the Nordkapp Avant 705.
